The beautiful underrated city of Lima yelling for an opportunity to be explored: Once considered an undeveloped city, Lima has positioned itself as one of todays most desired travel destinations in South America. Who said nothing to do in Lima? You’ll find stuff to do for all tastes & colors, you mention it! Lima has it all and we are here to help you discover it.
Rutger, Alfio & Paulo, from Holland & Peru put in all their passion, effort and dedication in showing guests the bright side of Lima & creating a lively atmosphere in our cozy Roof Top Bar. We had given life to Kokopelli! He started playing his flute, made people happy and retrieved us with his fertility seeds to make this story continue….
Ironically, Ignacio or “Nacho”, a peruvian creative from birth, who joined us a year after when we took Kokopelli for a Surf in Mancora, not only was Paulo’s best friend from childhood but influenced at some point in our final decision for the name of the hostel before we opened our Lima location. His creativity, charisma and laid back personality, have made Kokopelli Mancora one of travelers favorite stop in the route to and from Ecuador. Mancora’s old school chilled out vibe is reflected in our hostel from our rustic but deluxe facilities for travelers to indulge in a bit of luxury at backpacker rates, to relaxing sunbathing sessions by our refreshing pool or gathered with friends drinking a Corona with lime in our swim up bar and ending with nice chilled out party nights Kokopelli style.
For us Mancora was a dream come true, a hostel in a beach town just 30 seconds walk from the main surf point, with pool & bar, bikinis, surfing, seafood & loads of Tuna, fishing, scuba-diving, kitersurf, party & more. We never searched for it, but it happened! We have to also thank Thomas, an ex-guest of Kokopelli Lima who stayed 5 months with us, with financial studies, a masters in hospitality and disciplined as a proper german helped us in this new Mancora project. He now is the former manager of Kokopelli Lima and in Mancora, Ursula makes a great team with Nacho.
A year and a half after, a city that we thought was out of our reach started becoming part of our reality. The Magic of Cusco wanted Kokopelli’s energy and it looked for us. A person that served as a contact for a beautiful 250 year old colonial house fully refurbished knocked on our door and offered it. Kokopelli’s seed was placed into what now is the most complete hostel of all with many new features. An excellent job is getting done on a daily basis; a job only someone committed, proactive and intelligent like Nicolas could do in what is the biggest of all Kokopelli’s. With his experience from working in Kokopelli Lima for 2 and a half years not only did he earned total understanding of our philosophy but complemented with his studies in Hospitality Management he helped us develop new formulas and gained himself respect and a share in Kokopelli.
When we thought we were stopping, Mariano a friend from our childhood proposed an alliance with Kokopelli and his Kitesurfing company. If it weren’t for less he got offered a house in Paracas so he came to us with a house rental proposal in his pocket. Our first reaction would have been a no no, but It wasn’t just any house, it was a Beach Front House already equipped with a pool and rooms and with minor remodeling it was ready to roll. Within a month we opened our Beach Front Hostel, Bar & Grill one day before Independence Day. Glorious opening! We combined 2 of our best elements from Lima, Liz, our ex-Lima Manager who has been with us more than 2 years & Felipe sociable as he can be is now our Bar Manager in Paracas. Nevertheless, a new member was recruited and so far Rodrigo is living up to our expectations. Kokopelli Paracas is a total success and is becoming a must visit destination for Backpackers that visit Paracas.
